Treatments/ Implants
An implant is a screw-shaped artificial root, made of Titanium, which is placed in the jaw. After placement of the implant, a crown or bridge can be fixed on the implant.
When one or more teeth have been lost, as in an accident, root fracture or infection, an implant with a crown can be placed to replace the missing tooth. This is also possible when a tooth is missing from birth.
Implants can also give more stability an retention for a denture or prosthesis. Alternatively, a full-arch fixed bridge can be placed on a number of implants.
This situation resembles most the natural dentition. See also ´click-denture ´and ´All-On-4 fixed bridge´
For front teeth, it is important to make an abutment and a crown from a tooth-coloured material, in this case Zirconium, providing a natural and bright restoration.
When a tooth is missing and the neighbouring teeth are healthy, an implant with a crown is the preffered treatment;
This treatment avoids having to cut away healthy tissue for the placement of a bridge.
The placement of implants with state-of-the-art techniques is very simple, painless an a-traumatic.
In most cases, the crowns can be placed directly or a few weeks after the implant-placement.
This is the most beatiful, simple and save way to replace missing teeth. The replacements resemble nature very closely!
Implants are placed by A.J. Michels, an experienced Implantologist, registered at the Dutch Association for Oral Implantology (NVOI).
In the first annination we see a ceramic crown placed on an implant that has replaced a tooth in the upper jaw.
The second animation shows the teeth of Jules.
After a trauma, which fractured his front tooth, the tooth was frequently repared and had became discoloured.
After removal of the tooth, an implant was placed immediately with a temporary crown. A few weeks later, a Zirconium abutment and an Aluminium-oxide crown, custom made in our dental laboratory, were placed on the implant.
The dental technician finished the crown according to the patient wishes, producing an exact copy of the neighbouring teeth.
Now the crown on the implant is indistinguishable from the real teeth in his mouth and he can smile with confidence again!
Your smile will be perfect!
A dental implant is a titanium artificial tooth root that is placed in the jawbone to replace a missing tooth or molar. A crown, bridge or implant-supported denture can then be attached to the implant.
The placement of a dental implant is performed under local anaesthesia and is usually comfortable. Some mild discomfort or swelling may occur for a few days after treatment.
With good oral hygiene and regular dental check-ups, dental implants can last for many years and often even decades.
This depends on the individual situation and the healing of the jawbone. The time between placing the implant and fitting the final crown is often several weeks to several months.
An implant has the advantage that neighbouring teeth usually do not need to be prepared or ground down. The most suitable option depends on your teeth, jawbone and personal wishes.
In many cases, dental implants are possible. However, there must be enough healthy jawbone available. Sometimes bone augmentation or an additional treatment is needed first.
The costs depend on the individual situation, the number of implants and the final restoration. During a consultation, you will receive a personalised treatment plan with a cost estimate.
